Week 11: Waking up in Bakersfield

So I had a rather eventful weekend for the first time in a while. I've been working a ton lately, we've got some big projects going on at the "office," so I decided to take a random trip out to Bakersfield and hang out with some newly made friends.

It was originally planned to be a short day, but as these things often happen (and has often happened on nights doing comedy on the road) you start hanging out with one person, then they run into people they know, and other people they know show up, and before you know it you're 12 hours into the day hopping bars and having a blast.

Most of you guys know I don't drink, but I still enjoy this thoroughly. I do comedy because there is a natural part of me that likes to both entertain and study people. Hanging out with people having a good time allows me to do both, and being in a new place always enhances the fun.

Everyone was incredibly nice and welcoming. It reminded me of performing in small towns where everyone comes to your show and then you see them hanging out later and they are all interested in meeting you and talking to you etc.

It was great getting to relive a similar experience like that, as it reminded me how wide my life has been so far. I've had so many great experiences over the entire country with all of the concerts, comedy performances, shows, and great friends I've made along the way. I feel as though I have taken for granted how many great friendships I've made from those things, and sometimes overlook how many amazing people that I have met and that have stayed in my life. You guys know who you are, and I hope you know I appreciate you everyday, and will work harder to show it.

So after a fun time with new friends, I went to head home last night only to find my car was locked into the parking structure I had entered earlier. I quickly audible to getting a hotel room (it was already 1am), and figured I'd deal with it in the morning. Turns out the lot is only open on business days, and I had to hurry back today to get some work done, and catch a flight to Denver on Sunday. My laptop and everything else was in my car. After working with the local PD, and hanging out for an hour, a dude randomly showed up and let me in, and I was able to head out. Needless to say I won't be picking ramps over street parking any time soon.

I'll be in Denver doing meetings all week, but here is an update on the beard. Notice the curling again. If it continues I will just end up cutting it. I can't see any reason to keep it going, plus it looks weird with my short hair now.

See you guys next week!

P.S. - If you want a KILL YOURSELF t-shirt (like the one I'm wearing in the picture) or any other cool NLO mercy, head over to the NLO Store to pick it up. My CD/DVD is over there too.
